FRIENDS TRAIL and CEDAR BLUFF OVERLOOK
Friends Trail: 1.5 miles / approx 45 mins
Cedar Bluff Trail: 1 mile / approx 25 mins
Both hikes are located in Beavers Bend State Park.
Beavers Bend State Park is an ideal place to spend the day hiking through, bird watching, and enjoying nature in Ouachita National Forest. There are many hiking trails ranging from 12 mile challenging hikes to short nature trails throughout the park.
These parks have wonderful hiking amongst towering pines, rivers and vistas, whether you choose Skyline Trail, an 11.6-mile challenging hike winding through waterfalls and mountain peaks, to the Lookout Mountain, a 1.9 mile easy trail with incredible views, or hike up and down the Lower Mountain Fork River, you are sure to find the trail that suits you best.

BEAVERS BEND RIVER FLOATS
Our favorite kayaking or canoeing in town! This 2.5 mile trail will take you approximately 45 mins - 1.5 hours depending on how leisurely you move up the river. You are taken on a bus and dropped off with the kayak, then you are free to row at your own pace and finish at the rental spot. The scenery is beautiful with the woods on both side of you and the entire experience is peaceful.
From wild and thrilling to serene and tranquil, you’ll find kayaking, rafting and canoeing adventures in some of the most stunning settings in clear mountain-fed waters around Beavers Bend. The Mountain Fork River is famed as the fly fishing destination, but its rushing waters are also perfect for kayaking, floating, & canoeing.

FISH TALES WINERY & VINEYARD
Hochatown had grown from a quaint community to a place exploding with tourists. It became clear that they could offer visitors a bit of Oklahoma history through Muscadine wine. Vineyards were planted and Andy joined them to create FISHTALES WINERY & VINEYARDS.

TALIMENA NATIONAL SCENIC BYWAY
If you want to feel some wind in your face and see some incredible views of the Ouachita National Forest & Ouachita Mountain range, less than an hour drive north is Talimena National Scenic Byway, a breathtaking 54-mile route known for spectacular fall foliage and gorgeous floral displays in spring. Make your way through one of the highest mountain ranges between the Rockies and the Appalachians and view one stunning panorama after another through the winding road nestled in the heart of Choctaw Country. Designated a National Scenic Byway in 2005, the two-lane road features hiking trails and 22 scenic pull-outs at various points along the route.
